I love people watching. I was sitting in the hairdressers today and I was getting colour done – I always get my colour done! Colour on my hair takes ages, and when I say ages the longest I’ve been in a hair dressers is 7 hours! Its good to mention that I have really long thick hair. Not to mention my hair takes ages to take to colour. (ANNOYING!). I keep going off topic, ugh. Right I was sitting in the hair dressers waiting for my hair to colour and I can’t help but watch people. I love it.
Everyone has a story and when you watch them you can kind of see what/who they are.
Like this lovely middle aged women, she was sitting with a great posture, not really paying attention to the hairdresser. I could see small wrinkles under her eyes when she smiled, dark circles under each eye. Small grey roots that were being covered up. My guess, is that she’s a teacher, the kind facial features suggested that she was in that line of work. Kind and understanding look. Maybe a mother as well. Young children I think, she must have had. Lack of sleep would’ve been the cause the black circles under the eyes.
Watching the hairdressers. Holding up there arms all day, hairdryers, brushes, clips everything. They always seem to have a smile on their face. Happy to see each new client as they walk in. Behind the mask of the smile, I think that they must be tired, on their feet all day, arms up all the time. Secretly hoping that the small talk would stop. Hearing and saying the same things over and over again. It must be tedious for them.
People watching for me passes the time quickly. However, upon reflection I see that when your watching people living their life, your actually judging. Judging people is something that’s in our nature. You can’t help it – Well I know I can’t. It’s instinct. If you say that ‘I don’t judge people’ that’s a load of bull. You do whether you do it consciously or not.
