Books Are My Love

I for one love books. You get taken away into a land of imagination. When you read you are unlimited to far your mind can go. – Your unleashed!

A book will draw you in within minutes. Creating a wonderful magic world that you can get lost in. I truly believe that books can open your mind to so many new things. Things that your mind and eyes wouldn’t be able to dream of.

It’s an amazing way of relaxing. Just sitting breathing slowly with a cup of tea and a book. It’s so much better than having your eyes glued to a screen – Don’t get me wrong, I love watching TV just as much as everyone else. However you aren’t using your imagination. You get shown and told how to visualise a character. You hear the characters name pronounced in a certain way – In a book, their can be a number of different ways you can say a name. Me and my boyfriend read the same books BUT we will have a heated (emphasis on the heated!) debate on how to say a characters name. Wow. Me and my boyfriend sound like an old married couple!
I have read the Game If Thrones books and was super excited to see it become a TV series. However, I was SO disappointed with Jamie. In the books he is describe to be this gorgeous SEX GOD. I had a great image in my head of him. However when I saw him on the series my heart sank. He was just average. – Ok. I will admit, he is good looking but I had a different idea in my head. My bestie loves the look of Jamie. She hasn’t read the books, so she is going off the  interpretation of the producers of what Jamie should look like.

In this day and age, I think that the younger generation won’t even want to read a book due to how good technology is. It’ll be a great shame if that’s the case.

Encourage people to read. It’ll open there mind to the impossible.

I loath Halloween. It’s the time of the year that most people look forward too, but for us scaredy cats it’s the worst night of the year. It’s just an excuse for people to go out and scare people. I hate it. I lock myself away in my house with the lights off, the curtains drawn, doors and windows locked.

I remember when I was younger, I didn’t know what Halloween was, didn’t know the concept of it at all. I heard a knock at the door one evening, my mum was in the kitchen and I opened the door before my mum got to it – (Silly as I was only young it could’ve been anyone). Anyway – I open the door to a group of kids that had masks on dressed in black. I screamed. I screamed at the top of my voice and slammed the door. I ran as fast as I could up the stairs to my room and hid under my bed covers. Obviously my mum opened the door and apologised to the kids and handed them sweets. She shut the door and shouted up to me to come down. I slowly walked down the stairs crying. I sat on the stairs trembling as my mum hugged me. She couldn’t help but chuckle as she explained what Halloween was and that people dressed up in scary outfits and knocked on doors for sweets. – Honestly I can still remember this night, which can kind of tell you how scared and traumatized I was.

Halloween is such an innocent time of the year for children. They dress up and go to houses that will give them sweets. However as you grow up and go through your teenage years and young adulthood you start to see the other side of it. It’s a pass for girls to show off their bodies. It’s the one time of the year that girls can wear something revealing and no one bats an eyelid. The best way to try to explain it, would be in the film ‘Mean Girls’. You know when they all dress up in the sexy outfits (not really outfits, more like underwear). I would be Lindsey Lohan turning up to a Halloween party (if I liked Halloween) in a god awful costume and stand out amongst the sexy outfits. Boys must absolutely love it. – Eye candy!

The only reason that I would like Halloween is the candy (no not the sexy outfits) but the physical candy. The amount of sweets and chocolate you can collect in one night is amazing. It’s a night in which people become diabetic. Just imagine the millions of children stuffing their faces with sweets. – I LOVE  the videos that get posted on Facebook that show parents stealing their kids Halloween sweets or telling their kids that they have eaten it all. The kids faces are hilarious. It’s like they have worked so hard for it. I feel like this is a life lesson to kids – No matter how hard you work, people will take things away (in this analogy I’m talking about your paycheck. The mean taxman comes along and takes it away).

There is also a scary side to children getting sweets from people’s houses, think about all the sharp objects they might be given. The saddos out there that might want to cause harm to children. what if the sweets are poisoned or something?! I know it sounds extreme but this could happen… If your going out with children this Halloween please be careful and check their bags. – Unfortunately there are weirdos and dangerous people out there.

WOW that got dark for a moment…

My Halloween is going to be locked away in my room, with a bottle of wine and Disney films.

They Fill The World With Joy

I was sitting in a cafe today and saw a lady with a new born baby. This little baby, was so adorable, it must’ve been around 1-2 weeks old. My heart melted – I think this is a normal response when a girl sees a baby.

It’s a remarkable thought, that we can give birth to such innocent living being.

This lady was was gently kissing her baby’s head and I couldn’t help but smile. The little sound of the baby’s gurgles as you could see that she was pursing her lips and scrunching up her face. The baby wanted food. Instinctively the mother started to breastfeed, covering up the baby so noone could see. – This is such a touchy topic. My opinion is just but one, and I don’t want anyone to get annoyed or offended. I completely and I mean completely think it’s acceptable to breastfeed a baby anywhere in the world. Whether your in a restaurant or at home in private. You wouldn’t stop a 2 year old or 10 year old eating in public then why should you turn your nose up at a baby? – They need to be fed. The majority of the world is made up of women. Now I can guarantee you that, everyone – YES everyone has seen boobs before. It’s no big deal if a mother is feeding her baby. If it make you comfortable then just avert your eyes, you don’t have to look. It should be up to the mother as to whether THEY are comfortable feeding in public. We are all entitled to our opinions. That’s just mine.

There’s something wonderful about seeing a mother and their baby. I don’t care if your the biggest manliest person ever, seeing a baby is still cute. I know for me when I see them, I do start to feel broody (and no it’s not just because I’m a girl) – My boyfriend gets broody when he sees babies as well, even more than me sometimes! I think this is natural, it lets off your ‘mothering’ instincts. Wishing and imagining of you, yourself having a baby. I know, I know, who would like to be sleepless and dealing with the tantrums but just look how cute babies are! All I would need to do is look into the baby’s cute little face and I wouldn’t care.
Names. Gosh. The amount of times me and my boyfriend have sat around thinking and talking about baby names is ridiculous. We aren’t even planning a baby or even ready! But you know when you’ve been with someone for so long, you do start to have these kind of talks. We have a Girls name. That was easy and a little obvious. However a boys name. (This will be the death of us. I swear). It’s so hard to think of a boys name. Whatever I like, he doesn’t. Whatever he likes I don’t! We can’t seem to reach a common ground with it! – I guess we just need to hope and pray we have a girl!

I could go on and on and on about babies. I just think that they are wonderful. They fill the world with joy. – Such a blessing.
